If your first degree is included in the official list of required fields and the standard length of study was 3.5 years (7 semesters) or more, then you have fulfilled the general education requirements. If your degree is not on our list, please send a transcript of your previous studies showing all of your lectures/laboratories and grades by e-mail. After verification of your transcript, we will give you an answer concerning fulfillment of the general education requirements. This will be an unofficial statement to help you avoid the efforts and costs of the official application. top
Both of the above degrees and other degrees without a broad technical background, do not fulfill the educational requirements for this program. The program is designed for technical engineers or graduates with a technical background. The interest of people with such degrees is appreciated, but unfortunately, we are unable to accept these applications since the educational backgrounds are not suitable for the program. top
We want you to have an internationally accepted language test certificate such as TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge Advanced Certificate to prove your English language proficiency. You should have a score of at least 80 points (internet based TOEFL), 550 points (paper based TOEFL) or a comparable score in another international test. If you don't have an international certificate try to prove any of the following: 1. English was the language of instruction for your school education. 2. At least 5 years of learning English in school. 3. At least 6 months of working or studying in an English speaking country. 4. English was the official language of your Bachelor's/Master's studies. We will decide whether you meet the language proficiency requirements. top
At the present time, our university does not have a TOEFL Institution Code to send your test score directly. You are required to send us a certified copy of your TOEFL test card along with all your documents. It is to your advantange to be able to speak German, but since all lectures and exams take place in English you can attend the Master's Program without understanding German. However, you should try to learn as much German as possible while you are in Luebeck because you need to be able to communicate in your every day life outside the university. top

We are happy to inform you that we are able to offer this program without any tuition fees. However, you must pay the application fee and, like every student in Germany, approximately 90 euros per semester, which is split by the Student Organization "Studentenwerk Schleswig-Holstein" and the "General Student committee - AstA" (both are non-profit organisations). They support activities for students, the dormitories, the student restaurants and the free bus in Luebeck. top
There are no special scholarships for the Master's Program. Sometimes students have scholarships from their homecountry or from the DAAD. In either case applicants have to look for a scholarship on their own, there are no scholarship application programs offered by the Luebeck universities. top
The easiest way to find a room is to apply for one in a dormitory.

If your first bachelor's degree is in one of the required fields, the standard length of study was at least 3.5 years (7 semesters), and you can prove your English language profiency, then you fulfill the general requirements to take part in our admission selection procedure. The admission process also depends on the number of applicants to the program. top
Unfortunately, we cannot defer your admission for the next year. However, you can apply again for the next winter term by following the same procedure as this year. Please refer to the homepage for any changes regarding the application process. top
Our curriculum is oriented to give students knowledge that can be used in a variety of different fields. Biomedical Engineering is a growing industry worldwide with great career opportunities. Graduates can apply for jobs in various branches of the Biomedical Engineering industry, including the areas of research and development, as well as sales and services. Hospitals with inspection services and research institutions provide an even wider range of job opportunities for graduates. top
Currently, there are no student fees for this program, but students are responsible for their own living expenses of approximately 600 Euros per month. The probability of getting a job depends on the student's efforts and the availability of jobs. The university does not guarantee any job or other financial assistance to compensate for the costs of living. There are different qualifications for work permits in Germany depending upon your native country. According to a rough guideline students are allowed to work 90 days a year or 180 half days. top

You can pursue a PhD after finishing a master's degree. You must apply for a PhD program at the University of Luebeck or any other university of choice. In the past, about twenty percent of the students began a PhD after finishing their master's degree in our program. top
